this comic debuted at the MoCCA (Museum of Comic and Cartooning Art) convention/expo in New York City!
at this event i sold a good number of these - based on the merits of the art and the concept which i admittedly struggled sometimes to get across. my best short description of the story is this:
"a mythological retelling of the birth of our comic zine, INKLINGS."
in part 3 we see the ink in the inkwell (the vast, unknowable darkness from which all forms of creativity - here exemplified as comics - are drawn) become sentient and congeal into a creature (the INKLING) that then goes into the world and to collect stories from a variety of "catalysts". we see these stories as short comics - i.e. photos 3, 4, 5 above. ultimately friedrich (the primary catalyst of part 1 and part 2 of this series) is tapped by the inkling and brings the story to another kind of mobius strip conclusion. the idea is that future issues will be able to start accepting short comics from other artists again, and we'll have the collective zine we set out to make back in 2005. if you are interested in submitting comics, please get in touch with me!
THE INK IS THE LIFE!
